18 weeks and going strong

Today was the big anatomy ultrasound for 18 weeks. Everything looks good. I am so happy. His heart rate is at 160 and strong. This time he did some beautiful kicks for us. And, yes, they confirmed he is a boy. While the last appointment said he was as well as the 3D scan – I was still concerned that after getting Bug on board with a boy that he would turn out to be a girl, lol. Luckily, that was not the case. The Dr said he is a “fat boy” due to his weight being 6% higher than the average at this age. He had no concerns at all and said he looks very healthy. He declared my pregnancy on cruise control and for me to continue as planned. This makes me very happy. Next step? Next week I get my thyroid tested and see my Endo.

This weekend was wonderful. While Bug and I did not feel well on Saturday morning, we were feeling better come evening. We hung out with BestFriend for a little bit and watched Bug sing on a microphone for the first time.

Yesterday was even more fun. We were feeling better so we headed out for our normal chores. As we were driving past the mall we noticed a big top. Sure enough a small circus was in town. We decided spontaneity is the key to life and bought tickets. Really, Sweetie was the one who insisted we do it right then. He loves nothing more in this world than to make her smile. This was Bug’s first circus and she loved it. The elephants and clowns were her favorite. She enjoyed cotton candy, popcorn, and face painting. It was pouring when we arrived, without an umbrella, of course. By the time we left and made it through the mud, we were a little chilly. The solution was hot chocolate. Bug was very serious through the whole event. It wasn’t until we left and she began chatting away about the fun that we knew she had a blast. When I was dropping her off at school this morning she was telling all her friends and it made me smile so big.

I can already tell that this Christmas is going to be awesome. She is so big. I know we originally wanted our kids closer in age. But this is so perfect for us. She is talking about brother a ton. She offers up her baby things for him to use, is deciding what she wants to teach him, and already naming him. Right now it is Mo – from the WallE.

Beginning the Season

Happy Birthday Daddy! Today is my Dad's b-day, he would be 62. As we do, we did our shopping. And since everyone started the holidays early this is the first year we have been surrounded by Holiday Music/Decorations/General Cheer on a full blown level. This was very fun. This is my favorite time of year. Not for the presents, but for the fun, the family, the tradition. Even the station that goes "all holiday music" started the fun early. Normally they start the day after Thanksgiving. Nope today the music was on. I could go on and on about the marketing concepts that corporate America is pushing on us and how it isn't about making the cheer of the season last longer but rather more paychecks in the season making you spend more. But you know what? I won't do it, I love the season and I am going to enjoy the extended version.

We had the best day. BestFriend joined us for a short time with lunch. She is wonderful and asked me and Mom to tell her about my Dad. We were crying for most of lunch. But it was a good time.

Shopping on this day is a tradition for Mom and me. But I think this year we accomplished the least amount of actual shopping, lol. We ended up browsing jewelry stores. With the upcoming 10th wedding anniversary coming up, Sweetie and I are getting new wedding bands. This has me on a hunt for a new "engagement" type of ring. Well, long story short, Mom and I went from store to store looking at their offerings. This was fun as what I want this time is more non-traditional.

At the end of the day we laughed that we didn't do much actual shopping but it was one of the most fun shopping days we have had. Thank you, Sweetie, for watching Bug for me.

This week was very good. Not only did I have my b-day, a good week at work, Bug's Thanksgiving lunch at school, had a weight loss at WW, and a fun shopping day, but I also got in contact with an old friend. This friend was actually a friend of my brother's and more of my "big sister". She was awesome and I felt a great loss when she moved away. Not to dwell on that at all. Time has passed, everything has changed, circumstances are understood, and well... life happens. But thanks to Brother's boss being out of town and him surfing the 'ol my*spa*ce, he re-found this friend. I received a warm email from her today and I can't wait to get back in contact. When she last saw me, I was 15. Things have changed a tad bit since then.

Thanksgiving is next week. I can't wait. I have a ton of cleaning to do, but such is life. I love Thanksgiving. Reflecting on what we are thankful for is always important. And it is supposed to be cold and rainy for the day. Perfect weather, IMHO.

Today I am thankful for the people in my life. I am so very lucky to have such amazing people around me.

** I forgot to add, I got my test results back. While my thyroid is lower, which means closer to Hyper than it was 1.5 months ago, it is still normal. I am getting rid of my Endo. Not because of her, but because of her rude ass staff. I get my levels checked again in January. However, I am living as if I am in remission, regardless of how long I get to enjoy it. Which means if all goes well, we may be able to start thinking of trying for #2 in March (six months being off anti-thyroid medicines). We shall see, a lot can happen between now and then. My focus is being as healthy as I can in the meantime.

faith

Along with SOGOTP, I also need to let go. I believe in meant to be. I believe in things happening for a reason. Every heartache, every loss, every piece of happiness happens for a reason. I tend to think that life is testing me from time to time, to see if I can keep this belief. I am a Christian. Not everyone believes the way I do. Heck not even all Christians do. I am not a "bible thumper". I believe that the bible was written by man and translated and altered to its current form. I believe it is holy. I believe it is important. Flawless? No. I also believe that just because a tribe in Africa does not believe exactly what we do, does not make them wrong. How can you claim that something a community has believed since the beginning of time is wrong because they do not call God the same thing we do. It is not my place on this earth to tell others that they are wrong. I think it is very non-Christian to judge what others believe. I also believe in Gay marriage, women priests, and priests marrying and having children.

Wait, I had a point. How did this soap box get here? Oh yes, faith. I think you have to have faith, to let go. Not meaning to be passive, but to have faith that things will get better, stay good, or whatnot. Whether that faith is with God, the Gods, the universe as a whole, or whatever you believe, I think it is important.

With my disease, I have to have faith. With many things, I have to have faith. Faith that things are happening for a reason. Sometimes that faith is hard. But overall I keep this outlook. It has been a year since leaving my telecommunications job. What a year. At the end it was hell there. It almost killed me on accounting - thinking the only way to have a good paying job was to work all hours of the day. I had to go through that. I had to have that commute and that boss. I had to experience the struggle to appreciate today. I appreciate my commute, I appreciate my job, and most importantly I appreciate my boss.

Where is this coming from? I just received an email saying that during the 27-29th that we get to dress casual. That hit me that next week is the last week of the year. This made me think about 2006. I think of all the changes and obstacles from this past year. I try to keep faith that they all happened for a reason. And I hope they are all good reasons I am grateful for all of it. And I mean all of it. The good and the bad, the highs and the lows. I look towards 2007. I hope 2007 is less chaotic than 2006.

Faith. You have to have faith. So if you are stressed about your job, new house, holidays, in-laws, money, or health, have faith. I know easier said than done. But it is true. Things happen for a reason. There is a plan in the universe that we are not aware of.

Right now I am having faith that all my last minute Christmas shopping will get done, that the house will get clean in time for Christmas Eve, and that I will not need radiation.

This also stems from an A$mazon.com order we made earlier this month. Claymation Christmas, Garfield Christmas, and Muppet's Christmas Carol. We shipped it to Sweetie’s work. I started to get worried that we had not received it. I check the tracking and it said it was delivered on the 9th- a Saturday. Sweetie did not have it. I was pissed. Not only was my account already drafted, but we didn't have the Christmas videos to show Bug. Sweetie says he would handle it. It was his account and all. I had to have faith that it would get resolved. I was venting to Mom about it when Sweetie comes back and says he has them. They were in his mailbox at work. He forgets that he has a mailbox there. I couldn't help but smile. Honestly, and I know it sounds strange, but it made my day. I had to laugh. I was all gearing up for a fight and none was needed.

I am now heading to Bug and Sweetie, it is gymnastics tonight. Woo hoo.
