MERRY CHRISTMAS and all that

That time of year is upon us again. Another Christmas has come and gone. This year was odd. The season went too quickly to do all we wanted, people were missing from the fun, and I fought my own sadness. But I did what Christmas is all about for me, focus on family and friends. Sweetie and I spent this week cleaning. The house had been neglected in a bad way. In no way were we ready for a white glove inspection, but it made me feel so good. SIL is right, having people over is the best motivation to keep a house clean.

Christmas Eve was so much fun. I had to work for a few hours but nothing horrible. I had to even go back in so I took Bug with me. That was fun. Of course our weather was warm and she and I enjoyed the windows down on the ride, too funny. Christmas Eve was at our house this year. We enjoyed a scavenger hunt of sorts, making our own sparkling sodas, decorating cookies, homemade waffles, and opening presents. It was exhausting and fun.

Christmas Day was laid back. Due to Brother moving we decided to do things differently. Instead of full dinner we had sandwiches. It was fun and relaxing. Sweetie got me a WiiFit for Christmas, thanks to his best Elf helper BestFriend. I started playing it today. AWESOME. It is fun. I plan to use it with my walking. I don't know why but it seems that I feel more accountable with the wiifit than just weight watchers. Perhaps it is because Sweetie can see my progress on the TV.

Along the same lines we are talking about waiting to try for #2 until I lose some weight. We want to take care of any risks that we can. I am not waiting to be at goal weight, we are wanting to get a move on - lol. However my goal is to lose enough to get into the overweight category and not obese. As I say this we might change the plans if at any given moment. Speaking of health and all that, I am finally feeling better. I got on another antibiotic on Monday and I think finally I am kicking this sinus infection/cold that has lingered for over a month. So that is good.

So you might be wondering where are the Christmas pictures. There is an awesome story which goes with that. You see I need to upload my pics from two cameras. Yes, two. Santa brought me a Nikon D200. So half of the pictures are on my normal camera and half on the new one. I love the new one even though I am still learning how to use it.

OK back to enjoying the long weekend. I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

almost back to normal

First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIL#1!!!!

Getting back into the normal routine is hard enough on us adults, it is even harder on a 2.5 year old who doesn't understand what happened. I have been exhausted since getting back. Today was the first day that I felt half way normal and right now I am beat. I know it is the adjusting. Adjusting back to work, back to reality, back to the cold, shut it - cold for Austin. All three of us have been going to bed very early.

We walked so much over the vacation and I desperately want to keep that up. Tomorrow is weigh in. I have missed three weeks worth of weighing in. I am down from when I left on my vacation, but up slightly still due to Christmas. That is how it works. I am not beating myself up for it, I am proud of the vacation lack of weight gain.

Two weeks until I get my blood work done again, yep right back to reality. We toyed with the idea of trying to get pregnant over our second honeymoon, but thought better of it as we are still not out of the 6 month waiting period since stopping my meds. And I do want to know where my thyroid is now. I tell you deciding to have the second is so much harder than the first.

I have had several people ask where the photos are. The last two nights we did nothing productive. We ate, played, and went to bed. Hopefully I can get on this weekend and add them to my flicker, too many to post here.

And what the hell happened while I was gone. We went through Atlanta and met some of the rudest people working at the airport. And while no one was truly rude to us in Barbados (less one time at the bus station, but we aren't dwelling on that) and the cruise, I was missing my Austin niceness. Since I have returned I have only come across rudeness. Seriously did something cosmic happen?

It is time for me to go and get my little girl. She grew so much while I was gone. I missed her so much. I know - everyone should be SHOCKED by that. Have a great evening and I will let you know when more photos are up for viewing.

as promised

Pictures are finally here, yay. I am writing this while listening to both Sweetie and Bug snore. It has been a rough week for us and sleep has been limited. We were all in bed before 8:30. I am so tired too, but can I sleep? Nope. Oh well, I figured I would write instead. Things are good today, though my eyes are bothering me more. I have no idea if it is my allergies or thyroid. I hate not knowing, means I am not in control. One more week without meds and I get my blood tested. I am still cautious about it all. BestFriend has planned more with the glow party and it truly makes me happy. I feel like I have a team cheering me on through this.

I found out this week that my friend A is pregnant with her #2. That makes the third person we know who is due in Feb. And while I have said a lot about wanting another baby and how I am getting healthy for that, I just want everyone to know that whatever happens, happens. Sweetie and I have had several long talks about how much we want more children, but if that is not in the cards for us, Bug is awesome and we are thrilled with her.

Weight Watchers at work has not started yet. They are waiting for a leader to be assigned. That is my one main complaint about this set up. With this program you need to find the right leader and there is no shopping around for other meeting/leaders like you can when you attend traditional meetings. Plus I hate it when I know the program better than the leaders. But I am having faith and letting go. I need the support and environment to continue my weight loss. But I must say that I am fighting going off program until it starts. Or the one that is harder to fight, going off until I take the RAI - or rather the week before due to the low-iodine diet. I keep thinking that once I get the treatment that I am going to have to be healthy and why not blow it until then. I know, the other part of me, the angel on my shoulder, says to stay good and that way I have less to lose after treatment. But that devil can be tempting. For lunch Sweetie and I went to Red Robin. I had a bad morning and ate poorly because of it. But I came back to work and counted all the points.

OK on to pictures:
Bug and me at the lake last Thursday. She didn't want her picture taken, she wanted to go and see the water.
The lake.
The geese that chased Bug and me.
My new iPod skin. don't you love it? This is so very me. And it makes me smile. Now I can listen to the CPA reviews at work.
And my new walking shoes. The photo does not capture the color. They are brown. Chocolate actually. I really like them, hope the feel great after walking for awhile. I think I was drawn to them because on the low-iodine diet you cannot eat chocolate.

pictures

I had a terrible headache tonight. I tried all my tricks and it wasn't going away. I was supposed to walk but did not feel up to it. That is when Bug demanded that I take a nap with her. Well, nap for me - she went down for the night. I woke an hour later without a headache. She did the trick. She is the best ever :-)

As promised, pictures.
The butterflies at Neiman Marcus. Bug and her new friend on Sunday. My new favorite picture of BestFriend. My new hair. And Bug as cute as always.

sneeze sneeze sneeze

I am starting to think allergies are going to kick my butt this year. Today has been headache, sneezing, exhaustion, and eyes bothering me. Fun! Bug has been feeling it too.

Yesterday, I was a good girl and went to the dentist. I get to go back on Monday for a filling/potential root canal. Fun! It is a filling that has leaked and caused more cavity under the filling. They don't know how deep until they get in there. Blah. Sweetie went in today and received some deep scale cleaning. Poor guy looked like a stroke victim with half his mouth numbed. I was the nice wife who went and bought him lunch and took it to him as his appointment ran long and he didn't have any food. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him. Good thing he was laughing too. I took a picture of him, he said I could post it but upon seeing it took it back, lol. He goes back next week as well for the remainder of the cleaning. See what good adults we are being and taking care of ourselves.

Last night, we completed our first 10k training workout. It was scheduled for Tuesday but we felt that hanging with MIL and eating gelato was more important. Sweetie was good and ran and I walked with Bug. When he was done he came back and finished my walk with me. It is a good set up. And as we are doing the same training for the IBM 10k, only difference is he is running and I am walking, this is most likely going how we work it. The photos are from our fun on Saturday night; my Bug and her "too cute" smile, the water fall at the Domain, and Bug and me dancing.

I gots a box, now I need some back

As promised, a picture from my pinhole camera. Well, it is my pinhole camera. However, it is actually my digital placed inside my pinhole as we could not get the items needed to make my baby work properly. Based on this photo, I am excited about getting all the needed items. Yesterday was a busy family day. We went to Wolf camera. They were not the nicest people. We mentioned pinhole camera and we got a look like we were idiots for not using the latest technology. Hello, this is an art, and pinhole is an art as well. We were sent to Precision Camera.

Due to a Bug falling asleep in the car and being spontaneous, we went to Barton Creek Mall. This is a trek for us. I used to work close by there, but since getting my current job, anything more than 5 miles seems so.very.far. And since gas prices hit 2.79, we decided it was time for a road trip - please note sarcasm. One of the reasons we went to the mall was due to the Apple Store - I am trying to decide if I NEED a shuffle for my walks, and we needed to look up the address for Precision Camera and they are hooked up to the internet. See, I have a point here.
The people at Precision Camera were awesome. The minute we mentioned the camera they were intrigued. We brought it in (as we were prepared and had it in the car) and the first comment was "this looks exciting". Long story short, or well not as long, we need to purchase a backing from polaroid. This isn't bad, but it is $200. Then we will be set up. Sweetie is very excited about it. I love it. MIL came over last night and he went on and on about how he can't wait to see what I do when we have it fully functional. And then we laughed as he gave it to me at the start of the CPA process and it is the exact opposite of what he is getting me when I pass all four sections. When I pass, I get what the bitches so nicely refer to as a BAMF, a digital SLR.
After our fun, we needed a nap. All three of us are suffering from bad allergies, they are allergies and nothing more. I honestly think that is the case, all snot is clear with my group - I know TMI. But I cannot help but worry. And I am pretty sure Bug lost one of her tubes yesterday and she has been complaining about her ear. Ugh.

Today has been our normal errands and a family walk. Tomorrow starts my CPA review. I am nervous, but also excited. It is just a matter of getting our schedule in sync. Sweetie is beyond helpful and offering any help that will ensure success. I need to make sure to send off my "may I please take the CPA test" form with my $75. It is so silly. I am already approved application wise, but I have to fill out this form each time before I plan to sit. Such is life.

Close call there, Alias started coming on the TV. Sweetie HATES Alias. I had to change it fast, lol.

Pee Pee in the Potty!!!

Guess who went pee pee on the potty this morning? Uh Huh, my Bug. Who is so very awesome? My Bug! I won't bore you with the mom talk, but I have to share. We have not started the potty training officially. We have a kid's potty to get her interest and we let her sit on it whenever she wants, but no expectations. This morning she wanted her diaper off and she went to her bathroom on her own, and peed. So very excited. We are going out tonight to get some panties so we are prepared. She told me that she wants pink, blue, and princess, but no purple. She is really getting big.

The last two weeks have been crazy at work. I am finally caught up. well, kinda caught up. I have plenty still to do. But the main project that I was cleaning up is clean. Now I can get back to my monthly financials.

CPA review is ready to start, password received and works. YAY. Starting Monday, I will have 7 weeks of professor led studies and then 6 weeks of self study to review what I still don't know. I have to admit, I am a little scared. I have not looked at this stuff in so long. And so much has happened in my life since then that I think I forgot everything. If only what I do in the real world in accounting was on the test. Nope, it is mostly things from school and what those in audit firms should know. Oh well, such is life. I just want that 75.

This weekend we are going to Wolf Camera to get the needed items for my pinhole camera. Sweetie told me that he loves my photography and that is why he bought it for me. I cannot wait to experiment with it. No worries, I will scan the results.

Did I mention that I am tired of being tired? Well, I am!

Super Fantastic Girl's Weekend

Bug had a rough weekend. On Friday around 4:45 my cell phone rings its horrible ring. If you don't know, I have the daycare set to the most annoying and horrible ring. This is so I know it is them and I will hear it if I am away from my cube. Long story short, she fell off a bike and got a knot on her forehead. The picture does not do it justice. Nasty I tell you. True to form though, she cried harder about losing the bike to another kid than the bump itself. She might be little but she is tough.Friday night she was a little more snuggly, but overall good. Saturday, Sweetie was at SXSW. Bug and I went to Target and had lunch with him. She was acting like she was starting to get sick and not feeling great, but she was all over her daddy, and we hoped she was fighting it. During lunch, she went to sleep on me. Not a good sign. I took her home. She didn't wake up even as I transferred her to the couch with me. She woke with a 101.4 fever. Poor bug. Last night, Mom and MIL came over to keep me company. I appreciated it as I anticipated Sweetie to be out very late. I had the sick under control, I just appreciate the company.

This morning, I woke feeling less than great. At one point both Bug and I had a 99.4 fever. Nothing horrible, but funny that we were the same. This meant our big fun day turned into a stay at home day. To convince myself that I am not getting sick I decided to clean the kitchen. I shined my sink, scrubed the counters and the stove top. It looks great and Sweetie was perfect and noticed. Brownie points to his reaction of "Holy Shit".

Tonight is full of thunder. I love this sound. This makes for good sleep. Here are some photos I took over the weekend to show that spring is here.

Picture Time - again

This is Bug and Me on Valentine's Day. It was PJ day at school. She looked so cute. And don't mind the pumpkin - she just gets a little confused with holidays still.
This is yesterday. We went to a Vineyard for a lunch and tasting as a surprise for my Brother's b-day. He was very surprised. Yay. And Bug, of course, was as cute as ever.

This morning we enjoyed sleeping in. When we woke up to the hugs and kisses of Bug we all played under the covers. First is Sweetie and me under the covers and then, of course, Bug.

First Photo Blog in Beta

Weekend in pictures. No worries - no vomiting included. And good news to those at the Baking Day on Sunday - it seems several co-workers got sick on Sunday as well. And we all went to the Christmas Party on Thursday. Me thinks food poisoning.
