pregnant brain and yay

First, let's do the yay. Today we sent in the tax return I have been working on and that the audit was all about, yay. Big relief.

And yes, the pregnant brain has started. It is real, and seriously frustrating. I made three errors at work today. Two were caught beforehand and one not. UGH. Nothing horrible, but still frustrates me.

Once again, I rejoined flylady. I first found flylady back in 1999. I believe it is a very good program, yet I have to admit I have never done the work. This time I am hoping it is different. I have the 30 day baby step program all ready. We are starting it tomorrow. Wish us luck. My goal is to get organized before baby comes. I know my world will be in chaos then, even if the house is a fine oiled machine.

As far as the pregnancy goes, things are going smoothly. I got sick twice today and had to miss a happy hour due to feeling like crap, but overall that is improving. But the worst thing is sleeping. I know this is only going to get worse. My hip hurts and it is very hard not to sleep on my back. I want to try yoga more often to see if it will help. Sweetie is getting the workout area all ready for me this weekend.

And I do have to brag on Sweetie. Yesterday I told him that I was craving chicken and dumplings, just a side comment. When he arrived home he had two bags of groceries. He found a recipe online and bought everything to make a healthy version for me. It was yummy. The best part was living the full princess pregnancy lifestyle and lying on the couch while he did all the cooking.

Now I am going to attempt this whole sleep thing again. Wish me luck.

Bringing Sexy Back

Time to go deep again. My boss is on vacation so this week is crazy busy. Mostly self directed busy because I want him to come back and be like "WOW Missy is THE best employee ever, I will keep ignoring her coming in late and leaving early." But still, I find myself wanting to post today. Today is a rainy day and that always makes me look inward.

I said in an earlier post that I have been doing a lot of thinking. Well here is part of it. 2001 was a very bad year for us. Between lay offs and bad jobs and stress it was not good. I was lucky and was only out of work for 1 week. Sweetie was out for 16. This was a huge turning point in my life. I stayed in school through the stress- I worked full time while earning both my BBA and my MBA. My thyroid broke in the beginning of 2002. I gained weight. I was stressed. Life became about getting by and not planning. Things are changing. Now I am not saying the last 6 years have been completely horrible. Not in the least. I earned degrees, met some wonderful friends, completed two half marathons for LLS, and had my beautiful daughter.

However, I noticed something about me. I was focused on school. Then I was focused on school and pregnancy. Then I was focused on new baby. See where I am going. See how you can lose yourself. I realized that my clothes are all "get-by" clothes. Except for a couple of outfits for special occasions, all my clothing is the minimal amount to get by because of wanting to lose weight and not wanting to spend money on clothing that I will only shrink out of. My hair has even been the same way. I used to keep my hair short. Then I grew it out. I have really only cut my hair on a needed basis. I am not sure what I want to do with my hair, but I want something fun. The same goes for the house. Our house got out of control at this time, mostly because who can find the time to do housework when working 40+ hours a week and attending school full time. And now I see the CPA review coming up and worry about focusing on that and losing myself more. Nope, I cannot allow that.

I feel that I have been in a hole since 2001. No more. The ripple effect from that year is over. No longer. No longer will I think certain things were better before then.

So I am in a process of working on my self-esteem and me. I want to feel sexy and wonderful and most importantly me again. I am reclaiming control of all areas of my life. No longer am I going to settle for control over certain areas. I am going to live life today and not for "when" happens. In the past it was: when I finished school, when I had Bug, when I found a good job, when I passed the CPA, when I went into remission, when I lost weight. No more whens. Only now. Living for now.

My plan?
  • I have five weeks until CPA review begins. I am going to use this time to work on me and my house. No miracles expected, no real goals. But I am going to focus on spending some time on me everyday. I am hoping to get the house in order. Nothing perfect, just more under control.
  • As far as the weight, I am still trying to lose it. I am focusing on eating healthy and wonderful foods and my walking. I want to add yoga as well because I need more flexibility - but no rush. The goal is to move daily.
  • Clothing, as I am an accountant, I cannot bring myself to buy new clothing yet. However, I am going to focus on accessories and such that make me feel special. That being said, I will be purchasing new outfits for the Blog Blowout and have already started the process of finding a great sundress for SIL#2's wedding.
  • Hair, like I said, I am not sure what I want to do. I love the ponytail ease and look. However, I have thick hair and that makes for some head sweat. I am thinking of going shorter for the summer, like a short bob. Color? No idea.
  • Hobby, I want to find something that is fun to do. Outside of work and CPA. Something that is relaxing. Not sure what yet, but I will find it.
  • New experiences, the BlogBlowout is a big step in this direction. I cannot wait to meet these wonderful women. BestFriend is planning a tubing trip with the Divas, yay. And, of course, I am working on the next family vacation. Sweetie and I are wanting to go camping and enjoy nature.

Well, I am sure I bored everyone enough. I am excited and feeling very positive. I will keep everyone updated on my progress.

Friday Friday Friday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIL#2!!!!

Yesterday was less than productive. Our network at work was down. We cleaned our desks, did some random paperwork, went to lunch, chatted, and finally around 2 we were told that we could get on the internet because it was back up. Yay. At 3:30ish we were told to go home as the computers would not be up the remainder of the day. Luckily, as there is much work to do, we are back in full motion today. And even luckier, auditor didn't come - we postponed him again. Oops.

So, I am feeling better today, which is very good. I cannot wait until the appointment on Wednesday. I cannot promise that I will workout this weekend or even eat right. I will try, but the stress is blah. Oh and yesterday I found out that the person who sits next to me has the SAME thyroid dr as I do. Isn't it a small world? She had the surgery and is now hypo. Very interesting. I need to read more in my book before my appointment. Still crossing fingers that the meds are working and that they will reduce my dosage - positive thoughts, positive thoughts.

This weekend is going to be fun. Tonight is celebrating SIL#2's b-day, tomorrow is family day, and then Sunday is another sewing party for SIL#2 followed by bowling with friends. Yay. That along with the normal grocery store, laundry, and paying of bills and you have a packed weekend.

March and April are going to be busy for me. You see, I hope (pending the outcome of my appointment on Wednesday) to start the CPA review on April 30th. That means that the next two months are going to be spent working on my exercise and organization routines. We are hoping to have the house as a well oiled machine and my exercise as a habit. Flylady don't fail me now.

So work just asked me when I am going to sit for the CPA. I answered that the class starts April 30th. Crap, I just locked myself in. At least I didn't say I was going to sit in May.

Now time for me to pull out the ol spreadsheets. planning planning planning.

what to say

I feel random today. Work is going well. They are piling more on my plate. I can take it. Plus they gave me access from home. Any computer with an Internet and I am set.

Other than allergies, Austin has such wonderful allergies, I am feeling good. This is the first week that I am feeling really good. And I mean good because of my sinus infection leaving me, of course. But more than that, I am feeling good mentally. I am feeling good physically. My nails are so crazy long that Sweetie said I can get a manicure. A professional one. I have never had one with my real nails, always got the fake ones. So that will be nice. I think I will also do a pedicure. Anyone want to come with me?

But I also realized that I don't remember my last cramp. For those of you who are new or don't remember, I was having mind numbing-tear causing-wanting to pee because of the pain cramps. And all over my body. Well, no longer. Makes me think that there might be something to what my Dr said and it being about the ratio of my thyroid chemicals and not my meds. I also feel clearer with my head. And I desperately need my eyes checked. I have never had real bad vision. But I wore contacts and glasses before and through my pregnancy. Around the time the Graves' hit, I no longer needed them. The Graves corrected my vision. Now it is back to normal - I see it as a good sign.

I feel like I am ready to attack this weight gain. I feel like it is now at a point where I can start to deal with it since I am feeling good in other ways. And other than some bags under my eyes, I think I am looking healthier. I have got to go to sleep earlier. But I am sleeping. And I don't feel as tired as I did not long ago. I feel tired because I was up too late with Sweetie. Now I just need to add my walking back in - and it has been cold and rainy here. Well, cold and rainy for Austin.

As far as the FlyLady, we have not officially started it. I did jump the gun and start on my control journal in the sense that I started my weekly plan. FlyLady is all about baby steps. But I have to feel like I have some control over the big picture before I can do the baby steps. So I created version one of my weekly plan, I am sure I will revise it as I live it. But honestly I think it looks very doable. I am excited by the thought of an organized house. We know we are going to be in this house for a few more years, want to pay off debt before moving. There are things we want to do, more shelving and floors, and I put this on my flylady list as well. I can start to accomplish it if I have it on a list, although it does not mean that it will happen.

New Years Eve was perfect for us. It was laid back. During the day we got a call from our Elgin friends. We had not seen them since the pool party in 2005. Surprise, they have a new baby. Wow! We invited them over and got to re-meet their oldest son and meet their new born boy. So the night was laid back with people holding the 1 month old and Serif playing with the now 4 year old. We met the husband through Mark - Sweetie's cousin. We do not see them nearly enough. Hopefully that is going to change with this new year.

There is another friend of Sweetie's cousin that is our friend. We have been talking about him a lot lately - Rob - another good guy. Well, as we were getting into bed last night Bug hit the answering machine and lo and behold we hear a message from Rob wishing us Happy Nine Years. So Sweet. We have not seen him since Sept 05 - he lives in Houston and came to our house when they evacuated. We hope to see him soon, by him coming here or us going there.

Just a small world to hear from two friends that we have not seen and that started out as friends with a go-between within a week. That go-between now lives in Idaho and we worried that without the go-between, mostly about Rob, that we wouldn't see him for a very long time. It makes me feel loved that they called us on their own.

Oh and our friends in Colorado - the friends from college where the husband had the flesh eating virus and lost an arm and we went and visited them in July 2001 - we thought we lost them as our invite to Bug's party came back undeliverable. Well, they sent a Christmas card. Ta da - new address. YAY. Must keep in better contact with friends that live far away. Not a resolution - just a fact.

OK I think I have rambled enough. Almost time to go and get my Bug, and hug her and kiss her and love her.

Back at Work

It is very quiet here. My boss is out. I am trying to get caught up and look like the good employee, but I am so very not motivated.

Good news is my girlie doc called and all is normal - yay.

Last week in 2006. That makes me happy. 2007 is going to be about health, healing, and growth. I say this as I drink a real coke and eat a piece of fudge. Stupid co-workers bringing in sweets to the break room, and stupid coke machine for giving me the real one instead of diet. Blah.

I planned to start my walking plan for the 10k today. However, I have a nasty head cold. Must go see Dr tomorrow. Don’t want it to turn to bronchitis. Bronchitis and I are like BFF.

So I have motivation to lose my weight. 1) I want to be healthier. 2) I want to get back down to where my smaller clothing is not tight. 3) I want to look like I did when I weighed less. 4) SIL#2's wedding is going to be anywhere from early to late summer. That right there is big motivation. I already have a plan in excel. LOL. I wanted to start right away. But knowing that this week is a strange week, then we have News Years and anniversary, starting anything right now just would not work for me. So my goal this week is to get my water in. I know it sounds overly simple. And I am really good at my water. But it is a goal and something I can do that makes me feel healthier without setting myself up for failure. As I write this, I have already had my 8 cups of water today.

And it seems I may have a new hobby, but I am not committing to anything too soon. MIL got me the greatest little kit that teaches you to knit. Four people have tried to teach me. Somehow this kit is making sense. Sure I had to ask Mom a couple of questions, but overall it just makes more sense. And the first project they have you do is a bookmark. It is small enough to not be intimidating. But also small enough that you can take it all out and start over without feeling like - I am NOT doing that again. I have been working on it and I think I am on version 6 of the bookmark. I want to make sure I have the stitches down and that kind of thing.

In my whole early New Years resolution mode, I also rejoined Flylady. I am hoping it helps. I want to have things in a better balance before I start studying again. Not sure if I am starting the Beginner program tonight or on the 1st.

As with all things like this, I will keep you informed. So I have a plan for my body and my house. I simply need to make a final decision on the eating part, and I will be set.

In spite of the coughing and tiredness, I am in a great mood today. Tonight is Sweetie's game night for FFXI. I plan to play with a bug and then knit after she goes to sleep. I know, I am such a party animal.
